We Cannot Fool GOD

1 King 14:1-2, 6-7 NKJ - 1 At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam became sick.

2 And Jeroboam said to his wife, “Please arise, and disguise yourself, that they may not recognize you as the wife of Jeroboam and go to Shiloh. Indeed, Ahijah the prophet is there, who told me that I would be king over this people

5 Now the Lord had said to Ahijah, “Here is the wife of Jeroboam, coming to ask you something about her son, for he is sick. Thus and thus you shall say to her; for it will be, when she comes in, that she will pretend to be another woman.”

6 And so it was, when Ahijah heard the sound of her footsteps as she came through the door, he said, “Come in, wife of Jeroboam. Why do you pretend to be another person? For I have been sent to you with bad news.

Our GOD is omniscient, meaning that He is all-knowing, which means we cannot hide anything from Him nor pretend to be someone else before Him. We cannot fake our success in hopes of alluring Him nor put up facades before Him in an attempt to deceive Him. We can fool other humans, but we cannot fool GOD.

Even though it may seem obvious that we cannot fool God, our wicked hearts often lead us astray, causing us to act contrary to what is obvious. If we know that God is watching at all times, how then can we continue to do evil in front of His ever-watchful eyes? According to Jeremiah, the heart is deceitful and desperately wicked, yet it is the engine that drives our actions.

Because we are often deceived by our own hearts, as a byproduct, we are led to believe that we can fool God. But make no mistake, because God knows all things and sees all things, He is even fully aware of what takes place in the engine of our hearts.

It is a blessing to be TRUE to GOD and Honest with Him at ALL times despite our sinful nature. How can we accomplish this task with such a faulty heart? We simply need to give our hearts to the Doctor of all doctors, who is more than able to upgrade and fix our hearts to make it compatible with His desires. When this happens, we are able to fully face God as we truly are.

The fact that we cannot hide anything from God also means that we don't need to hide anything from Him. It takes a lot of wasted energy to lie and pretend. But none of that is necessary when encountering the Almighty. Let us come to Him honestly and fully vulnerable, knowing that He is able to grant us transformation! GOD Bless!
