2 Peter 3:18 - ESV - "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen."
Nominal Christianity has become so prevalent in today's society. Many people identify as followers of Jesus yet fail to follow Jesus. Even those who have gotten baptized fail to be good examples and instead become bad examples. This is not evidence of a lack of power in the gospel, but instead, a lack of growth in the individual.
We are born into this world as babies, knowing absolutely nothing. From babies, we become kids; from kids, we become teenagers; and from teenagers to young adults. In spite of the physical growth that has taken place, some people fail to grow mentally. For example, a person who is 30 years old may still have the mentality of a teenager. This failure in mental development could be detrimental to the overall future of the individual. Likewise, failure to grow spiritually in Christ is detrimental to our walk with Christ.
As Christians, we have the tendency to fail in growing spiritually. We continue to depend on baby food and are still not ready to receive solid food. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 3:2, "I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready." Just like how our bodies need to be nurtured properly in order to grow healthily, our relationship with God needs to be nurtured properly in order for there to be growth. Are we spending time in God's Word? Are we spending time in prayer? Are we worshipping God with our entire life instead of just a portion?
The lives we live as Christians need to come from a place of true worship, which will, in turn, cause us to grow in Christ. GOD bless.
