š„Psalm 69:5,6 - NKJV - "5 O God, You know my foolishness;
And my sins are not hidden from You.
6 Let not those who wait for You, O Lord God of hosts, be ashamed because of me;
Let not those who seek You be confounded because of me, O God of Israel."
šŗHave you ever found yourself trying to look good enough to earn the approval of the people around you? What was required to earn that approval? Did you pretend to be someone that you are not and lie about your capabilities? Maybe you felt the need to hide all the bad things from your past in order to create the best image of yourself in the eyes of others.
šøIn order to keep up with this kind of behavior for the sake of winning approval, it requires a lot of energy, time, and commitment to something that is not even true. Many who find themselves practicing this behavior struggle with identity. This should not be surprising when we consider that creating a false image of ourselves requires deceit. Is it really worth gaining approval at the cost of your identity and dignity? If we are followers of Christ, then we need to walk in the light of truth and not in the darkness of lies.
š¼In John 8:12 Jesus says, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness but have the light of life."
š»Ephesians 4:25 says, "Therefore, putting away lying, āLet each one of you speak truth with his neighbor,ā for we are members of one another."
š¹When we come to Christ, we do not need to pretend because He already knows everything about us. He knows all of the sins we have committed as well as all the foolish mistakes we have made. He knows all of our insecurities and darkest secrets. Despite all the ugliness that God finds in our heart of hearts, He still loves us and grants us the means to be able to be restored and redeemed from our sins.
š·In Christ, there is nothing to prove or work for; we have already been forgiven, and we have already been redeemed thanks to the work of our LORD Jesus Christ!
