Daniel 6:26,27 -NKJV - "26 I make a decree that in every dominion of my kingdom men must tremble and fear before the God of Daniel.
For He is the living God,
And steadfast forever.
His kingdom is the one which shall not be destroyed,
And His dominion shall endure to the end.
27 He delivers and rescues,
And He works signs and wonders
In heaven and on earth,
Who has delivered Daniel from the power of the lions."
Daniel was a prophet who lived during the 6th century B.C. rule of Darius, king of Persia. Darius was king over a vast kingdom, having appointed many satraps and governors; one of these appointed governors was Daniel. Having the LORD'S favor upon him, Daniel quickly gained the favor of king Darius. Despite serving a foreign pagan king, Daniel did not allow for his faith in the LORD to be compromised, praying daily to give thanks to God.
However, many of Daniel's peers were jealous of him, so they sought to kill Daniel through blackmail. They got the king to issue a decree of death against anyone who would worship other entities that were not the king himself for 30 days. Of course, Daniel could never refuse to worship the LORD of all creation. So, as his custom was, he prayed once again to God in the spirit of thanksgiving, falling into the trap laid by his enemies. Since the king could not take back the decree, he had no choice but to throw Daniel into the lion's den.
Yet, the story does not end there. Daniel would be rescued by the hand of the LORD. The bible says that the LORD shut the mouths of the lions so that Daniel would not be consumed. Daniel was rescued by the LORD, and king Darius had no choice but to acknowledge God!
The God Who rescued Daniel from his enemies and from the mouth of the lion also rescues us from the grip of sin and the schemes of the Devil. When people see the rescuing hand of God in our lives, they will be influenced by the testimony of our lives, which points to God. God still rescues today! GOD bless.
