The Gift of Hospitality

Acts 10:2

"Cornelius was a devout, God- fearing man, as was everyone in his household. He gave generously to the poor and prayed regularly to God."

People who have the gift of hospitality are warm and welcoming to others.

They're not strangers to the stranger because hospitable people are gracious and generous. Hospitality accepts others and helps them feel like they belong.

Did someone model hospitality to you as a child? My grandmother did.

When parents teach their children that they are not the center of the universe and that they have a God-given ability to connect with and care for others, it pleases God.

Showing hospitality doesn't require a big house, a ton of friends, or a pool in the backyard. You don't even need a house! You only need a "How may I serve you?" attitude as you interact with others throughout the day - and a willingness to welcome the lonely, the hurting, the hopeless, the shy and the weary into your life.

Hospitality is a matter of love.

A good example of this is Cornelius' family in the book of Acts. His entire family demonstrated hospitality to those in need. What a great legacy! Wouldn't you like people to say that about you and your family someday?

The best example of hospitality is found in the life of Jesus. He's the One who first initiated hospitality. Although not many people welcomed Jesus, his generosity to others was unparalleled--- especially when he went to the cross, the greatest act of generosity ever shown.

Today, what opportunities will you have to show hospitality to others?

GOD bless.

Share with your family and friends.
