Psalm 77:10-14 - NKJV:
10 And I said, “This is my anguish;
But I will remember the years of the right hand of the Most High.”
11 I will remember the works of the Lord;
Surely I will remember Your wonders of old.
12 I will also meditate on all Your work,
And talk of Your deeds.
13 Your way, O God, is in the sanctuary;
Who is so great a God as our God?
14 You are the God who does wonders;
You have declared Your strength among the peoples.
Life is filled with both good and bad surprises. You may find yourself receiving a random gift that someone decided to give you on a whim. Or you may find that you have suddenly lost something or someone without warning. Both cases are unplanned and unexpected, yet both can put you in entirely different moods. Whatever the case, as followers of Jesus, what should we remember the most? Well... we should remember the LORD.
Why is it good to remember the LORD in every circumstance? When we are happy, it is most likely because we have gained something. However, that something we gained may not be something that lasts for eternity. In other words, that something could disappear suddenly without a moment's notice. Instead, we should remember the LORD, the giver of all good gifts because He alone owns eternity.
Why should we remember God in the bad times? If you lost a family member, job, status, or maybe your health is declining, it is easy to be absorbed in regret as you remember what you used to have. This may be natural, but it is not helpful. When we remember the LORD, even in our worst circumstances, we are reminded of His faithfulness and goodness. When our situation changes, God remains the same. When we are facing scary circumstances, we are reminded of the God Who worked wonders in the ancient past and the God Who works wonders today.
In every circumstance, take time to remember the LORD and meditate on all His ways. GOD bless.
