A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
(Proverbs 18:24).
Jesus is a friend who sticks closer than any friend or family member. Even in your darkest hour of sin, He is known as the friend of sinners!
Those words, spoken as an insult by the religious crowd of Jesus' day, have become the testimony of every hurting person. What was meant as a criticism has become the cradle of blessing for a sin- sick world.
Our Risen Savior did not send a prescription, stand back, point His finger, and command you to do better. He wouldn't do that to a friend. Instead, He rolled up His sleeves, called eternity, wrapped Himself in flesh and bone, left the pavilions of glory and dwelt among us... the only Begotten of the Father (John 1:14).
Jesus could have laid down His friendship with us and picked up the robe of royalty. But I believe He said to His Father, " I've walked where they have walked, and I know the burdens of their hearts." He is interceding for you and me and our lost loved ones right now. He is petitioning the throne of God for the very thing that keeps you up at night. Jesus has not forgotten you!
