John 13:3-5 NKJ - 3 Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God, 4 rose from supper and laid aside His garments, took a towel and girded Himself. 5 After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded.
Before the cross Jesus showed His disciples the importance of being humble and humility. Jesus was aware of His divine origin and who He is, yet, He ignored that and performed an act of a servant. It's a lesson that reflects to be an effective leader, we must be a servant first. Jesus went back to His dwelling place more than two thousand years ago, but His legacy still lives on. His love for all humanity was demonstrates in the lowest of the lowest.
The Cross is the lowest shameful way to die during the Romans reign. It was a way to publicly humiliate their enemies. Our LORD and King of kings, willing to die on this humiliating way to restore us back to Himself. Humiliation is against our nature, no one wants to be humiliated in front of the people. Our Savior did it out of Love and Compassion, He humble Himself for the sake of sinners like you and me. Be humble and remember what Jesus has done for us.
GOD bless.
