Mathew 25:10-11 NKJ - 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut.
11 “Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to
us!’
12 But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’
Firstly, the parable of the ten virgins and the Kingdom of Heaven reminds us that we do NOT know the day or the hour of His coming. Secondly, it informs us that there will be two groups of people when He comes: the Saved, which are represented by the five wise virgins, and the Unsaved, which are represented by the five foolish virgins. They were all the same in that they were all waiting for the bridegroom with their very own lamps. However, the foolish virgins didn't have the extra oil to last for the appearance of the bridegroom while the wise virgins did. The oil in the Bible symbolizes the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is our counselor on earth. We need more of the Holy Spirit in our lives now. Our desire is to keep the Holy Spirit in our lives and never let go.
It is not as if we can buy the Holy Spirit by any stretch of the imagination, but Jesus uses this parable to express the significance of getting something when we desperately need it. We need the manifestation of the Holy Spirit to keep us awake and empower us to be faithful and ready for the coming of our LORD and Saviour. We must not ignore the Holy Spirit, nor reject or refuse the Holy Spirit. Let us invite the Holy Spirit today and let Him guide and direct our lives. GOD bless.
