Romans 8:24-25 -NKJV-
"24 For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance."
What does it mean to have hope? In the ancient world, hope is described as being like tension on a rope. When you pull on a rope from both ends, there is tension. As you progressively pull harder and harder, the tension on the rope also intensifies. Pull hard enough, and that tension will eventually be released by the rope snapping. This is exactly the kind of tension we experience when having hope of what is to come. As we get closer and closer to the coming of our LORD, our hope continues to intensify until it is finally met with His arrival.
In this world, we have hope for many things. We hope for a new car, a new house, or a new job. We lose sleep while waiting in excitement for a new relationship. Yet, attaining these things rarely matches the charm they had when waiting for them. These things fall into the category of what is seen. However, what is unseen not only refers to what we don't have yet, but also to what will last forever. GOD bless.
