1 Peter 2:11,12 - NIV - 11 "Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul. 12 Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us."
It is easy to get caught up in the worries of life to the point that we forget about our calling. Without realizing it, we have focused far more attention and energy on our negative circumstances, leading us to neglect the image of Christ we were supposed to bear.
Before Christ ascended into heaven, He declared that we should make disciples of all nations. As followers of Jesus, we have been called to bring more people into the Kingdom of Heaven. How do we accomplish this?
2 Corinthians 5:20 says, "We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God." An ambassadors' job is to maintain a strong and stable relationship with the foreign nation that they are stationed in. As Christians, we are in the world but not of the world. We have been called to reflect Christ's image by following His example. Christ taught us to love and not hate; to forgive and not hold grudges; encourage and not discourage; be selfless and not self-seeking.
When those who are not Christian see the good works that we do, our words will have far more weight behind them when we preach the gospel. Christians are called to love God, love truth, and love their neighbor. In everything that we do, let us glorify the name of Jesus.
GOD bless.
