4When [Jesus] had finished speaking, He said to Simon, "Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch."
5 Simon answered Him, "Master, we have worked all night and have caught nothing. But at Your Word I will let down the net." Luke 5:4-5
Jesus expects you to obey whatever he tells you to do--- even if it seems foolish, confusing, or scary.
After teaching the crowds from Peter's boat, Jesus gave Peter instructions on how to fish. Notice Peter's reaction. He didn't argue with Jesus. He didn't say, "Excuse me, Lord. You're a carpenter. I'm a fisherman. And the fish aren't biting! Who are you to tell me how to do my job?"
Peter didn't look for a second opinion either. When Jesus told him to launch the boat, Peter didn't say, " Why don't we think about this for a minute? Let's form a committee, create a survey, and then vote on it."
Peter didn't delay. He didn't say, " We've been out here a long time--- literally all night. We're dirty and tired. Jesus, how about we try again tomorrow afternoon?"
What did Peter say? "Because you say so.
Peter responded to Jesus with unquestioned obedience, and he netted the biggest catch of his fishing career.
Disobedience always hurts us because we miss God's blessing. If you become a "because- you- say-so" follower of Jesus, God will bless your life.
His instructions will not always make sense to you. But you can trust God because He always has your best interest in mind, even if you can't see it right away.
When God says, " do it, " just do it. Obedience is faith in action. Amen. GOD bless.
