John 10:14-16 NKJ - 14 I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. 15 As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.16 And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd.
The sheep who are a part of a particular fold are capable of recognizing the voice of the shepherd of that fold. However, how can the sheep recognize the Good Shepherd's voice when they are in another fold? If they have spent some time in the wrong fold, shouldn't it be difficult for them to distinguish the voice of the Good Shepherd from any other shepherd?
There are many principles derived from the teachings of Christ that many Christians today do not recognize. By not having a relationship with Christ, it becomes difficult to determine what Christ actually says and teaches. Even the Jews were confused as they approached Jesus, asking Him in verse 24, "How long do You keep us in doubt? If
You are the Christ, tell us plainly.” Jesus had been teaching in various communities by this point. In spite of this, many people were still unable to recognize that He truly was the Messiah.
Jesus had a plan according to verse 16, where He talks about how He would bring other sheep into His fold. The voice of the Shepherd is not limited by the fold. The voice of the Shepherd is able to draw in sheep from other folds simply by the power of His Word.
In the middle of all the chaos in the world, are we close enough to the Good Shepherd to hear His voice?
GOD bless.
