Galatians 5:1 - NKJV - "Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage."
When we think about the nature of sin, it entices us into doing things that we know we should not be doing. Like a snare set for an unsuspecting victim, it waits for you to be swayed in its direction so that you do not realize when you have stepped on it. Suddenly, you find yourself obeying the will of the flesh and ignoring the will of the Spirit, having now put on the yoke of sin. When Christ, our Savior and liberator, fulfilled the work of the cross, He paid the debt that we owed so that we would be set free from bondage.
When Christ sets us free, we are free indeed (see John 8:36). There is no question as to whether He has actually set us free or not; after all, the fact that the penalty of death has been lifted from us is evidence of that. Yet, when we fall back into bondage, it is because we have chosen to go back, not because we were never liberated. How can we go back to that which has only given us pain, suffering, and heartache? There is nothing to gain in the life of sin. Yet, thanks be to God Who helps us in our weaknesses (see Romans 8:26). He does not leave us ensnared by our own hearts but lifts us up and restores us into His Grace. Praise be to our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ! GOD Bless!
