Ephesians 5:1-2 NKJ - Therefore be imitators of GOD as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and sacrifice to GOD for a Sweet-Smelling aroma.
There's a saying in the Christian world that says, "sin stinks." This statement would be totally reversed if we walked in love like Christ. Paul's counsel to the church in Ephesus was to be imitators of GOD and walk in Love as Christ loved us. The world is lacking in imitators of GOD. People love to imitate famous people whom they don't even have any relationship with nor benefit from.
Consider these two phrases: to be imitators of GOD is to live and act exactly like the one you are imitating; to walk in love as Christ did is to live and act with love just like Christ.
God loves justice and righteousness but despises sin and evilness. Whenever we sin or live a lifestyle of debauchery, the smell of our evil deed's stinks before the holy throne of God.
However, there is only One Who has lived a life that was pleasing to the Father, and that is Jesus. He is the only One able to please the Father perfectly, which means that His character and actions smell sweet before the holy throne. When we choose to imitate Christ, we are living a life that is pleasing to God. This manifests in the fruits of the Spirit, which are displayed through our lives. Self-control, mercy, faithfulness, peace, and love are fruits that are displayed from emulating the character of Christ. As we put on the image of Christ, our lives and actions become a sweet-smelling aroma to God. GOD bless.
