Psalm 37:23-24 NKJ -
23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord,
And He delights in his way.
24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the Lord upholds him with His hand.
Have you ever tried walking in the darkness without a light? It is not easy to navigate. If it's a rough path, it becomes even more difficult. You'll be tripping and falling all over the place. Our spiritual walk here on earth is just like that. It's tough to walk without Christ Jesus our LORD. Our world today is overwhelmed with the darkness of corruption and sin. Everywhere you turn, there's corruption (sin). You can find corruption in the church, government, society, court system, education system, etc. It is no secret that the world is covered in darkness. Because of this, many fall, and many stumble.
The bible tells us that every human being has contributed to adding to that darkness. If every human has added to that darkness, how in the world have we not fallen completely into oblivion? For those who have Jesus, they are upheld by His hand. Not only does He hold them when they stumble, but He also directs their steps so that they are victorious in the way.
The bible also says that the "Word of God" is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. The gospel of John says that Jesus is not only the "Word of God" but that He is the light of the world. Without Jesus, there is only darkness, and we would simply be wandering aimlessly and blind in utter despair. But for those who have Jesus, they have the source of light that conquers the darkness of even our own sin.
Do not let the darkness of the world dictate your steps, for that is simply the blind leading the blind. What reward is there in that except for self-destruction? Follow the light of the world and allow Him to direct your steps so that you may be numbered among the righteous. GOD bless.
